String art with industrial robotic arm

This project follows the idea of ​​creating string art by using an industrial robot. String art is a type of artistic technique where the graphic representation is obtained by braiding a large number of strings between defined points (nails). In this project, an algorithm is created to draw such a picture, also optimization for the number of threads and the quality of the obtained image is conducted, and a physical model was made utilizing a robotic arm. VisualStudio was used to create a Grasshopper component that provides the information needed for the RobotStudio software for final model production.

Wall Panel Robotic Fabrication

The basic idea of the project was to generate a wall panel whose cutting would be processed with the help of an industrial robot. Walls of this type have their aesthetic and visual role in the interior design and contribute to the quality and dynamics of space. The starting point is to create a form with the help of the software platform Rhinoceros and Grasshopper. Further development is communication with ABB robot with the help of Visual Studio, Robot study and c # programming language. The model material is styrofoam which is cut using a hot wire tool. With this kind of fabrication and adequate design tools, various visually interesting freeforms can be generated.

Robotic Brick Laying

The aim of this project is to automate the construction of a brick wall using an industrial robot ABB IRB-140. By applying the Grasshopper3D parameter modeling tool, students creating a given wall shape that has to respond to certain constraints (robot workspace, local and global stability in construction). In the Visual Studio programming environment, specific Grasshopper tools are created that allow the connection between the Robot wit his RAPID programming language and the Grasshopper in which the coordinates of each individual brick are defined.
