String art

String art

String art is created by using string or wire, which are intertwined around pre-placed pins, with the aim of obtaining certain shapes and/or representations. As part of the work, this type of work was applied in the interior, using digital design. The method, which was used to create the code that generates shapes based on given photos, is reflected in the formation of a rectangle on which random points are placed, which are then adjusted based on the selected photo, and the nearest black points are searched for, which are then bleached, connected and created give shape. The addition is to rotate and add a cross-section to the links, in order to get the effect of a realistic rope. Examining different parameters, i.e. the number of pins and the number of repetitions, yielded different results, one of which was specifically applied in the interior and shown through visualization.

Snickers rack

The lack of creativity of retail stores in displaying their products and their appropriate presentation to consumers is the core idea of this project. The project is based on presentation of a new way of displaying sneakers in a shoe store, so that the product stands out with its shape, is interesting to the customer and attracts him to enter the store. The inspiration for the form of the shelf came from the product it is supposed to present. There have been progress in the industry and changes in the way soles have been made so far to increase the efficiency of the sneaker itself. This new sole design is associated with softness and lightness, which are exactly the two things that the shelf itself represents.

ID pavilion

ID pavilion is a structure made at a workshop within the subject of Digital fabrication in the master program Digital technics, design and production in architecture.
The aim was to fabricate a structure that has an irregular complex construction using mixed reality tool Hololens. Elements in reality were aligning with the holographically projected model. Using this tool with the Fologram application shortened the fabrication time to the extent that there was no need to mark the elements, total time consumption took setting the elements in accordance with the holographic projection. The result of the workshop is the ID pavilion, which shows how it is possible to assemble complex structures only by using mixed reality. The material used for the primary construction was GFRP rods, and a ribbed plastic hose was used for the linear cover which reminds of a fingerprint pattern.

Exhibition Architectural visualization of Alvar Aalto’s objects

Exhibition Architectural visualization of Alvar Aalto’s objects

Exhibition “Architectural visualization of Alvar Aalto’s objects” presents results conducted within the course Architectural Visualization at Master program Digital Techniques, Design and Production in Architecture and Urbanism, FTN, Novi Sad.

Each poster depicted one exterior and one interior photorealistic rendered visualization of Alvar Aalto’s buildings. With this exhibition students and professors made an homage to Aalto’s work since last year was 120th anniversary of his birth.

String art with industrial robotic arm

String art with industrial robotic arm

This project follows the idea of creating string art by using an industrial robot. String art is a type of artistic technique where the graphic representation is obtained by braiding a large number of strings between defined points (nails). In this project, an algorithm is created to draw such a picture, also optimization for the number of threads and the quality of the obtained image is conducted, and a physical model was made utilizing a robotic arm. VisualStudio was used to create a Grasshopper component that provides the information needed for the RobotStudio software for final model production.

Exhibition Architectural acoustics, Novi Sad, Serbia, February 2019

Exhibition “Architectural acoustics” present the results of a workshop held within the course Digital Fabrication at Master program Digital Techniques, Design and Production in Architecture and Urbanism, FTN, Novi Sad.

Aim was to explore various forms and patterns in order to create interesting spatial forms that can be applied as an acoustic interior element inspired with parametric and digital design.  Final phisical models are fabricated with two types of material utilizing software and machines for digital fabrication.

Novi Sad Old Town Insolation Analysis

Novi Sad Old Town Insolation Analysis

The topic of this project was the analysis of the insolation of the streets where the Novi Sad Old Town was chosen for the site. What is spotted is that the storey of buildings in this part of the city is inadequate – higher than allowed by the cross-section of a street. For this reason, the goal of the work was to generate solutions that will be better for the existing street matrix parameters regarding the insolation of the streets with a slight deviation of the grossly developed built area compare flight tickets to existing condition.
City Engine software was used to generate the models needed for the analysis, while the analyzes were done in Grasshopper with Ladybug. Although the storey of objects is changed randomly, the best the solution proved to be quite logical with real results.

Penrose Origami Pavilion

Penrose Origami Pavilion

Origami pavilion is an attempt to answer the arising challenges in a construction of a self-supporting structures. Majority of self-supporting structures require a massive prebuilt formwork or other ways to support its pieces in place before the whole structure is erected and well within its static equilibrium.  The pavilion is designed as a foldable self-supporting structure which allows for an easy on-site, on-floor assembly. Once assembled, it can fold into a dome like structure and maintain its shape when combined with base supports to restrict the joint movement. Steel hinges are used to make joint connections between 40 equally shaped, but differently perforated panels. The perforations reduce the weight of a structure and thus increase its structural properties.

Parametric Kirigami

Parametric Kirigami

Parametric kirigami presents the work of 2017/18 generation on course Digital Fabrication. The aim was to interpret various forms inspired by the digital age using Japanese traditional technique of paper cutting and folding – Kirigami. Two types of paper are combined software tools for digital fabrication to fabricate the final models.
