Sremski Karlovci and Monastery Krušedol
Monastery Krušedol is one of the most important of 17 monasteries in Fruska Gora. The monastery was founded by Vladika Maksim (Djordje Brankovic) with his mother despot Angelina – the last despot family of medieval Serbia. The monastery church is dedicated to the Blagovesti and is richely painted – the oldest frescoes are from the middle 16th century, and these are the most important examples of Baroque painting in Serbia. All members of the Branković family , Kralj Milan Obrenović, Knjeginja Ljubica, Arsenije III Čarnojević, Arsenije II Jovanović and Stevan Šupljik are buried in the monastery.
Sremski Karlovci – the center of Serbian education, spirituality and culture in the period from the migration of the Serbs from Kosovo to the beginning of the 20th century. The most important cultural and historical monumets of the Sremski Karlovci are Chapel of Peace, Saborna church, Karlovac Gymnasium, Bogoslovija, fountain Four Lions, Patriarchal court.
Visit to one of the wine cellars in Sremski Karlovci where you will have an opportunity to hear interesting story about wines and wine production and taste the famous karlovački bermet and other local wines. Lunch will be organized at the Winery. If the weather condition is favorauble, one hour catamaran ride on the Danube will be orgaised.
