Interactive visualization

Interactive visualization is a subject held in the first semester of the master’s academic studies in architecture, on the module named Architectural visualization and simulations. It covers theoretical and practical frameworks from reality to virtuality. On the one hand, the main review is on the basic aspects of real-time visualization, with an emphasis on geometry, materials and light. On the other hand, the concept of interaction was examined, as the basic way of communication between the user and the virtual space. Finally, by introducing the immersion criteria, all types of reality that fall under extended reality (XR) have been examined, which include augmented, mixed and virtual reality, as well as augmented virtuality. The acquired knowledge can be used in real time visualization of objects, or in the gaming industry, taking into account the good theoretical knowledge, the possibility of research, as well as the skills acquired by working in Unreal Engine.
