Workshop 1: Environmental performance-based design & Robotic fabrication

This workshop primarily explores integrated approach in generative-performative design and fabrication strategies with industrial robot. Environmental performance criteria such as solar radiation, overshadowing, thermal comfort or wind flow will be used as parameters for optimization process of parametrically design structure that will be further prepared for robotic fabrication.  Geometric properties of the structure as well as material choice greatly impact the fabrication process altogether and will be considered in all design phases. The aim of the workshop is to provide the participants with first-hand experience in integrated design process coupled with robotic fabrication.  During the 2-day workshop, the participants will design and fabricate a geometrically complex full scale architectural prototype by using parametric modelling environment Rhino & Grasshopper, performance simulation tools and industrial robot ABB IRB 140.
